Today has been so far great!. My new laptop charger has arrived for my macbook pro so i can use it instead of my Dell D620. Should note there is nothing really wrong with the Dell D620, its just not as great as the macbook, annoyingly one of those things all the mac vs pc reviews find it harder to put into words, the mac is just better for many reasons i cant really think of.

Note: one reason why pcs laptops are better than macs should be noted as their power supplies rarely melt them selves due to a design fault in the power supply.

Also yesterday my BT Anywhere HT 620 arrived, V cool, but the best bit whilst looking thought the docs that came with it is a nice little piece of paper saying “You know that 10Mb data limit, well actually its unlimited” So i have a Voice and data Mobile phone which can use sip, for £4 a month with unlimited data and a free £200 HTC phone thingy got to be bargain of the century.

Also in other news I brought my new son Ben home from the hostpital, both Ben and Sarah are sparko currently.

At the beginning of the week I started to create my own wordpress theme using the blueprint framework. Towards the end of this week, that theme is on its second version and has had a complete rewrite from scratch. The whole process has made me love Wordpress even more than I did, and now with blueprint all “FFS! its broken in IE again” woes have gone Continue reading read more…

Probably worth sticking up that if you in the market for a Bugaboo Cameleon in the UK, and are getting hampered by the 8 week waiting list. You have a choice:

    • If you feel the wait is too long then John Lewis keep hundreds in stock normally (all colours) so can get you one to you in about 5 working days.  They even managed to get the percieved to be rare foot muffs in less than 2 days.

    or

    • If you feel the 8 weeks wait just isn’t long enough JKUK / babies247.com will be quite happy to take your money and then not deliver any goods.  This is just one of thier many great services they offer. Another would be rude and miserable customer services.   So if your sick of getting goods you paid for and just had enough of happy & helpful staff, JKUK / babies247.com is for you.

I have been playing with the wordpress templates or sometime, and have created several from scratch, with varying levels of success. I created this one with the blueprint css framework, last one i did with 960.gs. This seems to be working much better.

Currently getting irratated by Microsoft’s stupid browsers. Role on IE8 which is standards compliant. Will try and get some of the IE problems sorted, (may be, probably not).

    Update:

Have been trying to fix a problem with my widgets sidebars, the theme has some on the front page and the standard side bar as well. Turns out to be a bug in 2.5.1 of wordpress, who’d a guessed it wasnt my shoddy coding?. Continue reading read more…

The Escapist is a game focused tech E-zine. Erm do people say E-zine anymore? You know when you work out what your going to write then half way through you panic. Erm so The Escapist is a game focused tech magazine that I’m currently reading quite a lot. I started out just watching the Zero Punctuation Voblog column which is written/performed by a brit named Yahtzee, very awesome though his gaming is completely the to opposite to mine in that he ignores the multiplayer and concentrates on the campaign yawn fest. Where as I now own COD4 on two platforms and still havn’t bothered to complete the single player.

Note: And wouldn’t of even started that if wasn’t for Xbox Live dieing over Christmas due to the amount of traffic Halo3 and COD4 created.

Any way, read it (if you like) its great!

Currently we’re in the market for a pram, one of those things for transporting small people around in. In this capacity my self and my wife shopped around and decided we would get our selves a Bugaboo Cameleon it bit pricey however it will fit quite nicely in our BMW mini. I did my usual shopping around and as expected their are major discounts to be found on the interweb. In the end we decided that a face to face sale would suit better so we’d have some one to talk to if it broke or what ever.Weeks of research later we roll up to JKUK also known as Babies247.com and order the Pram, car seat and other bits that I’m assured you need. The price we got from JKUK was as expected well over the odds and damn close to R.R.P, but hey I’m paying for the customer service and piece of mind, you can’t put a price on that!

    Quote from website:
babies247 is the online division of JKUK and shares its core principles of outstanding range choice, impeccable service and advice and – most importantly – will never be beaten on price.

    Background

A couple of days ago, I took delivery of my PS3 a wonderful piece of kit that does 99.9% of the things my xbox 360 does. The PS3 purchase was mainly so I have the ability to play Blue Ray discs and also to be able to play GT5. I had no intension of playing COD4 on it, this was mainly because i have spent the passed month or so desperately trying to get my Gold AK47, and BTW was only 50 headshots with the MP44 off getting it. The saturday morning I sat in waiting for the PS3 to be delivered. I thought i’ll knock a few more of the those head shots on the erm,,,, head. The following happened.

I have been writing an article on, how to be a lazy administrator for a while now. Its basically some lessons I learnt on how to manage your time more effectively, so that ultimately one person can look after a fairly large and complex environment. Its interesting how most of maps directly on to my new Capability manament role, ( that level of interesting is entirely relavtive, I think it is!).

Its still very much work in progress but I have posted whats there here
