I have used a script I have written to generate an iSync Plugin (MetaClasses.plist) for getting your nokia series 40 phone to work with iSync 2.4 and iSync 3.0
This script has been tested on a number of nokia mobiles and proven to work, other series 40 phones, if you download a plugin and find try it out please add a comment with your findings so we can keep everyone upto date.
These plugins will only work when connecting your mobile Via bluetooth!
to install
- Installation Instruction
- Right click iSync from the with applications in the finder and “show package contents”
Navigate to: - replace contents of MetaClasses.plist with the relevant iSync plugin for your nokia mobile!
Contents\Plugins\ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice\Contents\Plugins
\Nokia-6131.phoneplugin\Contents\Resources
make a backup of MetaClasses.plist

Testing the 8600 Plugin, no luck
7500 Prism plugin syncronizes only SIM memory contacts, NOT telephone memory contacts - iCal seems to be OK
I was able to sync address book contacts on my 6126. Thanks!
I’ve just tried a Nokia 6020 and had no success. iSync 2.4 could not find the device - the Add Device dialog box says “no device found”.
The Michael, Just checked and the 6020 has no Bluetooth.
I have gone through and removed all the phones that dont have bluetooth support, and added links to the remaining phones spec on nokia.com
Used on 6500 & 7500. Worked fine, thanks very much!
hi james many thanks but isync plugin for 6500 does not seem to work with the 6500 slide ?
cheers
Jimbo
2865i (from MetroPCS) shows “this device is not supported by iSync” over BT, but isn’t recognized at all over USB.
The 6275i does NOT work.
The phone lacks the SyncML service, which means that it is significantly different from most other Series 40 phones, and AFAIK iSync requires SyncML to work.
Hi,
The NOKIA 6233 Script works fine, but there seems to be a bug in apple mail when handling with todo’s created on other devices or just in iCal. After the sync was finished apple mail didn’t work anymore. I found the following thread dealing with the same problem and was able to fix the problem by deleting the todo’s that had been transferred from my mobile:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5860690
Conclusion: The script is perfect! (I hope apple will soon fix the mentioned bug…but it’s not too evil
Why two entries for the 6131? I tried the second one, and it works fine. They both link to the same txt file and the same specs on the nokia site. any difference in the code?
Well spotted, I was waiting for someone to point that out ,,,
. Ok my mistake, yes the code was the same for both.
FYI, fixed 6500 Nokia spec link. For some reason the 6500 doesn’t conform to their naming convention.
THANKS! I just got my Nokia 6500 Classic and it worked! It’s so nice to see that even though I had to purchase the phone from overseas, there are those who want sync to work regardless!
Thankyou James,
After some trial and error as a complete novice I worked out the Metaclasses.plist file needed to be opened as a text file to be edited.
Once I worked that out your script works great! Able to sync contacts on a new 6500c… If you’re ever in Sydney I wanna shout you a beer!!!
works great with Nokia 6151.
Thank you, works like a breeze for the Nokia 6500 Classic!
I’ve had problems with 6500 slide, but 3109c works fine. thanks for sharing.
Yes the slide doesn’t work. Its difficult to debug all the phones when I only have a 6085.
But the phones in green at the top do work, and in yellow may work but people havn’t told me.
calendar synchronisation works just dandy with my 6500 classic. for some reason it will only synchronise contacts that are assigned to a group on the phone, seems very strange, any ideas? thanks for sharing!
Hey James, I found the solution to the 6500 slide problem here:
http://www.disappearhere.com/?p=115
Cheers Phil have added a link under the 6500 to the your link!.
Hello, works fine with iSync & Nokia 6500c! Thank you very much!!!
Does not work with 5610
Hello,
I tested with Nokia 2660 and iSync said “this device is not supported by iSync”… Maybe is my mistake, I don’t know. Is there anything I can do to provide a better feedback? Thank you anyway!
Hello
I just got a Nokia 6500 Classic and want to sync only the contacts from the Address Book on my Mac Book Pro. Is this possible with your script ?? Also, I dont fully understand the installation instructions - I can locate the file but dont understand how to replace it with your plugin - when I click on your plugin, I just get text in Safari and dont know what to do from there
Thanks in advance for your help
Mark
Works fine with the 3110 classic. I used the 3109 metalist, placed it in the 6131 folder, and did a find/replace on “3109″ with “3110″ in the metalist file itself.
It’s jsut sync’d perfectly with my MBP, and N95.
Not surprisingly, Nokia Multimedia transfer tool doesn’t recognise it.
I just bougth a Nokia 6085, it didn’t work with iSync (Tiger 10.4.11). Trying to find a solution I got to your website and used your script, and it works !! both iSync and iCal.
It’s fantastic my friend!
Thanks a lot!
I just wonder if it will work with Leopard. Has anybody tried it?
Yes I have works great with iSync 3.0 (Leopard)
Hi James,
thx very much for your work, but how do i replace the content of the original metaclasses with the txt file I downloaded from your site. I have a nokia 6500c.
sorry it was simple…just opened with the wrong app.
Thanks again
The plugin seems to work with the Nokia 6234. But the memory on the 6234 fills pretty quickly - mine couldn’t even get past 500 contacts.
Hi and thanks for this, however…
I might be being completely stupid but I cannot get the 6500 script to work.
Can you give a step by step instruction for the “replace the contents of MetaClasses.plist” bit, because whatever I do, it just dosen’t seem to work.
Sorry to be such a noob, but I’m desperate here!
Thanks, Andy
here is the key for the 5310. I tried and it works :
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060404013821717
I was able to adapt this to my new Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone!
I used the updated instructions above (”Creating your own iSync Phone Plug-in for OS X 10.4.9 iSync 2.4″ http://www.macosxhints.com/comment.php?mode=view&cid=86309 ), except for the following little change:
In the MetaClasses.plist file described in the mentioned comment, add the string “XpressMusic” to the line
Nokia Nokia 5310
. After adding the string, this line becomes
Nokia Nokia 5310 XpressMusic
This seems to be needed or iSync will not recognise the 5310.
Ahh annd the best: Even Address Book images get synchronised as with S60 phones!
The only thing I’m still missing but haven’t seem on any phone (except probably the iPhone) yet is a syncing of address groups to my nokia phone.
I wonder if there is a public API that could help in implementing this.
Cheers,
Simon

HEy,
installed 6500c plugin worked after 4th retry,
(had an empty space from editing the plist first,
then forgot to quit isync so a sfety backup would appear and keep the new plist from functioning)
but did not sync phonenumbers, calendars worked fine…
I checked merge data
made a new group in adress book,
called it phone and synced it, with no result.
then, i don´t know how,
isync did not show the merge or erease checkbox anymore…
i tried to sync anyway and my numbers are gone:(
any idea about recovery options?
best greetings
rio
Nokia 6301
Just tried the plug in with a new 6301 and it worked perfectly. Thanks very much for your work on this.
Nokia 6267 works just fine!!!!
Tanks a lot for sharing!!!!
Just tried it with Nokia 6085.
Works first time without a hitch.
Brilliant. Many thanks.

It works for my Nokia 3110 classic. I used 3109 plugin and exchanged every 3109 to 3110 in the file and put this file into 6131 family folder as written in instruction. I used only calendar synchronization, but I think it should also work for Address Book. Thanks James !
Big thanks James,
simple, clear instructions - worked perfectly first time. Brand new Nokia 6500c on Orange with Mac osX 10.4.11 & iSync 2.4; address book & calender all synch’d.
Genius - especially as apple, who I have found to VG @ this sort of thing, dont have this phone as compatible…
happy Christmas
jamie
just tried the 6500 classic sync.
went like clockwork, apart from birthdays not being transferred.
great stuff
thx
James
Just installed your patch for my Nokia 6500c and it works like a dream. Thanks for yout hard work - much appreciated!
The 5310 script works when completed with Fifibrindacier’s hack. Coool work, dudes!
5610 seems not to work
JOhn or fifibrindacier, could anyone of you post a link to the 5310 script? I tried the same for the 5610, but it won’t work. Basically both phones should have the same OS. Thanks.
Nokia 3109 classic works perfectly. Thank you very much!
Hello,
I just receive a Nokia 2630 and was realy sad to not be able to sync it to my ical (macos x 10.4.11 isync 2.4).
And with your plugin it works !
It’s a realy great stuff ! Thanks a lot
With all my gratitude !

I am wanting to be able to surf the web on my MacBook Pro through Nokia 2865i. Will your script allow me to do that? I have MetroPCS for a carrier and they told me (after a very long hold time) that it was not supported. I don’t mind if its slow, but I gotta get access when I am mobile. Suggestions?
Thx,
Nick@Nite
Not at all this is specifically for being able to use iSync with your nokia phone, so just the syning of calendar and contacts. To be able to use the phone as a modem you would need to check the settings when pairing the phone via bluetooth. Though I have never done this.
Help. I’m a real novice at this… can you give me some advice about how I make the text file above a .plist file?!
Help!
rename the file in a texteditor
Works like a charm for me with the Nokia 6500 classic.
Good explanations, easy to follow.
Thanks !
Wow. This worked with my new 6500c first time, as described. Completely. Thank you.
This also ran on the 6300 no problem first time around. thanks again.
Hi,
I have encountered a problem using iSync with the Nokia 6085 and an old iBook. The iBook is running 10.4.11, iSync 2.4 and is equipped with an SE bluetooth dongle.
I am able to pair the phone with the computer and can browse the Nokia 6085 via the Bluetooth Prefence Menu, putting on extra ringtones and so forth.
I downloaded the iSync plugin here and set up the Nokia 6085 in iSync, but all attempts in syncing fail:
The iSync log shows the following error message:
12:33:28 Error [Nokia 6085] There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been cancelled on the phone.
12:33:28 Error Device “Nokia 6085″ synchronization failed
Whereas the phone diplays: Sync failed. …. Unable to process all items. ..
Any hints?
thks, aki
I used the 6500 and 6300 script and they both worked fine for me.
Thanks for the scripts.

hey in fact it doesn’t work as good as it seemed.
I can sync, i can send sms with addressbook, and receive call with addressbook, but i don’t receive the sms on the computer …
does someone know why ?
The plugins here are for using iSync , the other features you mention dont use it.
ow okay … so i’ve seen there’s a similar file for adressbook in his package : /Contents/Resources/Telephony.bundle (which is also a package) -> /Contents/Resources/ABDeviceCommandSets.plist
I’ll try to change something in this one to make it work with sms incoming. If someone else want to try …
Ans so, i’m sorry your file works perfectly !
Just tested this on my Nokia 2630 and it works like a charm. You sir a legend, thank you very much..
I have a Nokia 6500c and a brand new macbook with Leopard on it. Have followed the instructions and now iSync recognises my phone, and attempts to sync with it. The calendar syncs however the address book does not. Any solutions? Am i doing anything wrong?
A 2865i (through Alltel) gives a “This device is not supported through iSync” message.
Just tried the 7390 plug in and it worked perfect on my Nokia 7390. Have a mac mini running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)! Thanks!
Nokia 5610 doesn’t work, as mentioned above.
If there’s something new available that’ll work, please mail me.
Thanks.
Nokia Classic 6500 - Manage to sync Calendar but not Contacts - All contacts deleted from my phone though. Is there a solution? Thanks!
Hi James,
nice work there. Basic sync works excellent.
After having worked with the phone for some time now, I’ve found a few glitches when syncing my 6500 classic with iSync under Leopard (haven’t tried other versions though).
The problems only occur when syncing back, i.e. contacts have been transmitted to the phone and, some time later, I’m syncing again. At this point, iSync reports contacts would have changed:
1. Company names seems to get deleted
2. German umlauts in Notes seem to be converted somehow (e.g. an ‘ä’ converts to a two characters: ‘Ãø’ (the latter appears to be an o over an x; ‘ü’ converts to ‘Ã1/4′ where ‘1/4′ is one character.
3. Display type seems to get deleted (has been ‘person’ or ‘company’, empty after syncing back)
4. Long notes appear to be truncated.
5. Birthdays seem to get deleted.
6. Job titles seem to get deleted.
7. Images seem to get deleted!
I think it’s fine if the phone doesn’t support certain fields but they should not be overwritting/modified/deleted when syncing back.
Thanks for any help. Drop me a note if I can be of any help figuring out what goes wrong there.
Oh, and happy new year!
Cheers,
-Hans
2630. Worked immediately with iSync 2.4, may many thanks!
Tested with 6133 - iSync 2.4. One-way sync of Contacts, from Mac to Phone. Calendar works both ways.
Been using 6500 classic plugin for 1 month now. Worked well initially but now has created duplicate appointments on other nearby days. A lot of pain to correct. Will wait for official.
I have tried and tried but I cannot get the 6085 plug in to work under Leopard. I opened the existing MetaClasses.plist with DashCode, highlighted all the original text, pasted over it with yours, saved and quit. When I launch iSync it tells me “iSync cannot connect to this device” for my phone. I feel pretty dumb reading everyone else’s immediate easy success… any tips?
hi,
tested 7390 pluggin ( not tested version ), and it works great… Calendar and Fone book.
thanks you …
hap’psy new year 008 to all
cheers from switzerland….
I just tryed the plugin on a nokia 2630 with iSync 3.0 in Leopard and it works like a charm.
Thanks for the great plugin, it’s really cool!
When syncing to my 6085, the sync only seems to work with a group called “AddressBook” in Mac Address Book. If I change the group’s name to “PhoneBook” or similar, the sync fails. No big - easy enough to work around - thank you very much for this plugin!
Check that - it actually seems that it will only sync with a particular group once. If I rename the group, or choose a different group, it syncs normally. Switching to a different group seems to require unpairing both the phone and the computer, removing the phone from iSync, then repairing and reinstalling the phone to iSync. Any ideas as to why?
6500 classic:
Hi, I had the same problem with the 6500 classic. I installed the script fine but it only syncs calendar. The contacts don’t get synced. Is it trying to sync contacts from the phone to the mac address book? or the other way round ?
thanks
Thanx for the excellent work.
Works great with my Nokia 6500 classic.
I instantly postet your instructions (translated for all the german MacUsers) on http://www.macuser.de.
No need to mention, that I refered to you Website…
Again, excellent work. Thanx A LOT!
Best regards from Germany

Sorry! I’ve never tried to do anything like this before. I do not know how to “replace the contents” of the metaclasses.plist with the plug in. Could someone please tell me how to do that?
Thank You!
I’m trying this again. Has anyone gotten this to work on a Nokia 2865i??
-Jeff
I used it for my 5300 and it worked great, thank you so much
Robert
Just had a note from Svein at disappearhere.com who has pointed out the error to the 6500 Slide plugin. I have updated the link to point to the correct page now.
http://www.disappearhere.com/?p=163
Used the plugin for Nokia 6500 classic…. works perfect and was so simple to install.
Great plugin. Thanks for the great help.
This works just like a charm with my Nokia 2630. Big thanks!
Great jop, James! Very helpful, thanks a million! I have a brand-new Nokia 3110 Classic here and followed above with the MetaClasses.plist file given for Nokia 3109. Simply replaced all 3109 with 3110 in the file with TestEdit. Contacts are syncing perfectly now, didn’t test Calender entries.
Thanks, James. Plug-in for Nokia 5310 XpressMusic works with iSync 3.0 on Leopard for both contacts and calendar. I put the plug-in into Library/PhonePlugins. No bugs detected so far. You have obviously already changed the plug-in to include the string “Nokia Nokia 5310 XpressMusic” as suggested by fifibrindacier. Thanks very much
Hi, it sounds great, but
I am so dissapointed. It does not work on my pm with mac os x 10.4.11. and isync 2.4. also the Software PhoneDirector can download and upload anything on my Nokia 7390. but i want to do it with isync…
any ideas?
thnks a bunch james
o lovin this
6500 classic now synced wit compter
and now contacts on ipod touch cheers
This great with the Nokia 2630 - but everyone already knew that..
.. so thanks, James!
I own a mac, and I wad NOT going to re-enter all my saved contacts (from the Mac) into my new phone!
And the only reason I got this particular phone was the
low-cost BlueTooth iSync plugin combination.
So I guess ol’ Apple Inc and Nokia should also sit up and take note of this solution.
Great work, James.
Nokia 6102i works, but you have to change some of the code from,(family.com.nokia.series40.3rdEd.bus.bt) to, (family.com.nokia.series40.bus.bt) the reason being, is that the 6102i is a 2nd edition phone and if not changed you will in turn, get the error message “no authorization” on the phone and iSync will report that it can’t push data to the phone unless this line of code is changed. This could also be a problem for those of you who are trying to sync with other Nokia versions. Be sure to check to see what series and edition your phone is. Here is the website that I found where I was able to decipher this information. Any suggestion or need help post it and I would be more than happy to help :).

6085 working here with Leopard! THX a lot!
Sync with Ical and my new 2630 and it works. I love it. James, you prove that it is possible. Why does Apple and Nokia won’t support this????
Nokia 3110c users: THIS DOES WORK! I spent ages trying to get it to sync with my macbook pro without success; it would sync the calendar, but contacts would sync 44 of 56 and then the phone w
